Chillin’ Tiger Coloured Pencil Drawing

I just finished a new coloured pencil drawing of a tiger again. A big close up of his chilling’ face. I love drawing these beautiful coloured tigers with their fluffy fur. The most challenging part I find the short hairs on the nose. This is what always takes me the longest as well. Echo was a great help during my drawing process. He often sits on my free had while I’m working. The drawing took me about 60 hours in total. The original drawing is listed for sale and limited edition prints are also available.

Tiger Cub Coloured Pencil Drawing

I just finished a new coloured pencil drawing, of a tiger cub. I had a lot of fun with it, and so did Echo, my little feathered drawing companion who’s sitting on my shoulder. This drawing didn’t take so many hours because it’s a bit smaller than I usually make my drawings. I love making drawings in colour. I always use Faber Castell Polychromos coloured pencils and they are awesome. The original drawing is for sale and soon limited edition prints will be available as well. Have a look at my website Remrov’s Artwork in the meantime. My next drawing will be a tiger again 🙂

Coloured Pencil Drawing of a Lion

Here’s my finished coloured pencil drawing of a lion. I call him Noble King. A lot of hours went into this fellow, but I had a lot of fun with it. I love to focus on all the tiny little details. I’m quite happy with the result as well.

The original is listed for sale, and instead of selling an unlimited amount of prints and products of it on Fine Art America, I decided to sell high quality limited edition prints of it. Have a look on my website Remrov’s Artwork.

Boycott To Siri With Love

I just published a new video in which I talk about the horrible, anti-autistic and ableist book To Siri With Love, written by Judith Newman. The book was published by Harper Collins and it shouldn’t have been. In the book the writer Judith Newman talks about her autistic son Gus in the most mocking way. She has absolutely no respect for her son’s privacy, and she even wants to have the power of attorney to decide for him to have a vasectomy after he turns 18, so that he will never be a father.

The best Drawing Materials According to Remrov

Many people ask me what kind of pencils I use for my drawings, and what kind of coloured pencils and paper. So I made a selection of all kind of materials which I always use and which I find the best, and I posted this on my website Remrov’s Artwork

Over the years I have tried a lot of different brands of drawing materials and I found out that there is quite a lot of difference. Some pencil break more easily for example, and some coloured pencil brands are just more vibrant than others.

The drawing down below is one of my first. I did this one completely with graphite pencils of the brand Steadtler.

Aslan drawing1977 2

This drawing down here, my bearded dragon drawing, I did with coloured pencils from the brand Faber Castell Polychromos. The colours are very vibrant and they are quite soft and easy to work with. The pencils are a bit thinker though than other pencil so make sure you get a special Faber Castell pencil sharpener as well. You can find this on my website.

And down here you see my cockatoo drawing. The cockatoo itself I did with graphite mostly, but the darkest parts and the dark background I did with charcoal pencils. Graphite pencils are great and I use them all the time, but when you make something too dark with graphite pencils it starts to shine, so for the darker parts you need charcoal pencil instead.

Have a look at the selection I made. It will save you a lot of time and money since I have already gone through the whole process of finding the right brand and materials.

“Never Give Up’ Calligraphy Drawing

I made something totally different for a change. Not long ago I saw a video of master penman Jake Weidmann. There are actually 12 master penmen all over the world. They are all masters at handwriting and calligraphy. After watching the video I was very inspired to try something with calligraphy myself, because many people tell me that my handwriting looks so neat. This is the result. It’s 18 x 24 inch. The words ‘Never Give Up’ mean a lot to me. No matter how difficult things get, you should Never Give Up!

International Award in Visual Arts

In April this year I received the great news that I was nominated as an official nominee to receive an INAP (International Naturally Autistic People) award. The INAP celebrates the talents of autistic people and the awards ceremony would take place in Vancouver during the 8th Annual World Autism Festival from September 28th to October 4th. I was a nominee in the category of visual arts representing Canada.

On Sunday night October 1st, very early in the morning, I flew to Vancouver to attend the awards ceremony. I couldn’t attend the World Autism Festival the whole week, because that was just too expensive. The awards ceremony started at 4pm with a meet and greet, red carpet media coverage, and interviews. I met amazing people from Taiwan, the Philippines, Japan and many other countries. It was amazing. At 6pm the awards ceremony itself began. There were many performances of artists who were also official nominees. The awards were divided into a few different categories — visual arts, performing arts, excellence in technology and great work done by individuals and organizations for the autistic community. I won the the third prize in the category of visual arts. The second prize went to an artist from the Philippines and the first to an artist from Taiwan.

It was an amazing experience and I hope to be there again next year.

Autistic Artist Remrov Official Nominee INAP Awards Representing Canada

I received the great news that I have been selected as official nominee for the prestigious 2017 INAP AWARDS (International Naturally Autistic People AWARDS) on the world stage at the 8th annual ANCA World Autism Festival.

The INAP Awards celebrate the talents and abilities of autistic people and the great work done by individuals and organizations supporting our autistic community.

I am a Nominee in the Category of Visual Arts representing Canada.

baby-elephant_fotor

I specialize in photorealistic pencil drawings of everything I find interesting, mostly animals. I always donate part of the proceeds of my drawings to good causes that help animals. With my drawings I raise the awareness that autistic people have gifts and talents, and that it’s important to keep focussing on our strengths instead of our weaknesses.

Besides being an artist, I also devote time to raising awareness and understanding about autism. My Remrov’s World of Autism videos are seen and appreciated all over the world. My presentations about autism and my consulting work help autistic people and their families, caregivers, and teachers as they come for advice on every aspect of their lives.

I recieve a lot of positive feedback about my videos, presentations, and consultations. This encourages me to keep on doing what I’m doing. My goal is to continue making the lives of other autistic people and their families easier, and to keep building a bridge between the autistic and neurotypical worlds. And I want to keep being a voice for non-verbal autistic people.

The awards ceremony will take place in Vancouver during the 8th anual World Autism Festival, from September 28th to October 4th 2017, and will include many workshops and presentations.

I help a lot of people for free because many people can’t afford to pay me. I love to help people like this, but it means that my own budget is very limited. Attending the awards gala and the World Autism Festival is very expensive. I do really wish to go, as it will be a great opportunity for me to raise more awareness and touch more lives. At this event, I can continue my work on a more global level and help more people.

It will mean a lot to me to be able to go. It’s a huge step forward in my journey and my goal — to keep making my drawings and helping animals in the process, and to keep raising awareness and understanding about autism, and to keep on helping other autistic people and their families.

Pencil Drawing of Benedict Cumberbatch

The last few weeks I have been working on a pencil portrait of Benedict Cumberbatch. It was quite a while ago since I drew a portrait of a person, so I decided to draw Cumberbatch as Sherlock. I love the BBC’s Sherlock TV series. I’m not selling prints of this drawing, because I don’t own the copyright of the photo I’ve been using as a reference. Some day I hope to give this drawing to Benedict Cumberbatch himself.

I hope you like it so far, and I hope to give it to Benedict Cumberbatch some day when it’s finished.

Elephant Pencil Drawing in Progress

Right after finishing my pencil drawing of a brown bear, I started with a new drawing again, a baby elephant. For quite a while I wanted to draw another elephant, so I’m having a lot of fun with it. I truly love elephants, they are so majestic and beautiful, and very intelligent as well. I hope you like my drawing so far.

Pencil Drawing of Mr. Bear Finished

The last month and a half I have been working on a pencil drawing of a brown bear. I lost track of how many hours I have been working on it exactly, but I did take a two week break while I was visiting my mom in the Netherlands. I’ve had a lot of fun with this drawing, because a bear had been on my ‘to draw’ list for quite some time.

The original drawing is 18 by 24 inch and it’s for sale. Have a look at my website Remrov’s Artwork for more information. Prints are also available, along many other cool products with the drawing on it, on Fine Art America.

Down here you can see me working on the drawing with my feathered friend Pilaf as my personal coach.

And here you can see the finished bear drawing. On my Remrov’s Artwork Facebook Page I always post a lot of progression photos of my drawing, so come over and follow me there as well.
